Ingus–
Tomorrow has arrived!
My apologies for the late update. Super crazy work weeks got the better of me.
Now….
Here it is – the first demo of the song known to most as “My Lost Sock”. Back in the day, Louis had a philosophy that our recordings should sound pretty much identical to our live set. This is, I’d say, pretty much a perfect example. This song sounds live live live. Even the extra reverb at the end isn’t that different than a lot of the early 432 shows with JimTankerous running sound.
This song is, if you can believe it, about a girl. Who broke my heart. Twice. Louis threatened to break my arm if we ever got back together. We didn’t. Which is good. I like my arm. It’s where I keep most of my tattoos!
Louis -
Not back on. Still on.
I hate when you hear an album that you know is pretty good, but the production destroys it. Des Moines, Iowa…wait, I mean 21st Century Breakdown…perfect example.
Anyway, somewhere around ‘94/’95 Ingus loaned me Ramones Mania and I lost all sense of perspective. Anastasia, My Lost Love and Crystal Pools were songs I tried to strong-arm into Ramones territory.
This is one of my favs to play live, and I still sing it to myself every time I do laundry. ”I even checked the lint screen, so it wouldn’t catch fire“.
Thermos:
Yeah, sorry about the reverb-alicious mix. Again, it was the ’90s. I may as well apologize about my wardrobe, too, while I’m at it. Seriously, how could I ever think that I should wear XL shirts?
Today’s photo - socks!! Note that these socks are gray at the heel and the toe. Alert listeners may note that mid through the song, our lost sock changes from being gray-toed to blue-toed. I have no idea why this is. I’m sure at the time, I owned both blue toed and gray toed socks, but you’d think in writing the song, I’d have stuck with one… anyway — enjoy!
