Ephinjee

State Of Bliss - The Demos (1995) — By Ingus on November 28, 2009 at 12:01 am

Ingus – Holy smokes – is this the first recording of Ephinjee we did?  Crazy!

I like that we went with clean electric guitar instead of acoustic here.  Not sure what the backwards stuff is at the end – most likely another artifact from reusing master tapes.

As for the song – it purports to be about a girl, which it kind of is, but not really.  It also is about Monty Python and the Holy Grail, but also not really.  It’s mostly about that feeling that some lifechanging turning point is about to happen, and even though it hasn’t happened yet, you know it’s about to.  Like pre-ja-vu.

The name refers to the chords of the chorus.  F and G.

Another Earth Day performance photo.  At some point I abandoned my mic to see if the podium one was live.  It was.  Sound guys love me.  I wonder if people could hear us in classrooms.

Thermos – Things I miss:  that Les Paul bass and longer hair.

Louis – I.  Love.  This.  Song.  Without a doubt one of my favs, but I don’t remember Matgus bringing it in at all.  I do, however, remember spending a lot of time discussing the title (though I always thought it was spelled “Ephenjee”).

This is one of the songs I remember Mat playing for me over the phone.
    (the other was Stero Wars)
I always loved the Holy Grail ties.
