Wind Blows Now (demo)

Ingus – Clocking in at almost TWICE the time of it’s later incarnation on Kids Love It (Do Not Release), here we have Wind Blows Now.  The setting for the lyrics is Potter Park on the east side of Flint, for those who know the area.  Not the most romantic or exotic of locations, but I like it.

Jay Brooks again plays bass on this track If I remember correctly (and it’s more than possible I don’t), Jay did NOT want to record this song, and it was the very last of the demos we completed, a few weeks after the rest of the demos.  Jay brought a lot of fun and craziness to the rest of the sessions, and some of his greatest stuff is still to come, but he did not like this song, and did not want to finish recording it.  Still, just wait to you hear “Oh Jim” and “Not Quite Yoda”.  Brilliant!

Louis – I don’t remember Jay hating it (which means nothing.  I have the worst memory), but is is him playing bass.  We’re all a bit cautious on this recording, so it must’ve been quite new.  This is one of my favs.  For some reason Mat and Thom never want to play it.

Ingus – From the collection of Jason Kotarski, today’s flyer is for the infamous Dead Eye Dick show, and yes, I stand corrected, this show WAS with Brooks.  The show with Mike Boyd was the Whaley Children’s Jam.  Dead Eye Dick, you may remember, had a novelty hit with “New Age Girl”.  We didn’t care.  We were just happy to be finally playing on the same bill as the Rugby Mothers.  And they even showed up!

Check it out, Jason even had me sign the flyer.  Rock Star!!
