Nine Times Toast

Do Not Eat (1994) — By Ingus on October 13, 2009 at 11:12 pm

Ingus – I have no idea.  Actually, that’s not quite true.  But the details are sketchy.

The “Eat Lead Cobra” sound effects are from a talking G.I. Joe figure that either Bagle or Watchorn bought.  They’re friends of the band.  We named it Special Agent Anderson Cooper, because at the time, the real AC was covering the first gulf war, and dressed similarly to Joe.  How it came into the possession of the band is a mystery to me.  Maybe Louis knows.

The next burst of music is the end of Concrete Shoes, from the oft-used Band Geek Convention house party recording.

Next up, things get a little more nebulous.  The song is Nine Times Blue by The Monkees.  I’m not sure if we were recording a cover of the song, and this is a track from that without the accompanying tracks, or if we were simply goofing around.  Either way, Yo Joe!

Louis – Up ’til now, I would’ve sworn that Special Agent A.C. was yours from back in the day.  So no help from me there.

I’d guess that I wanted to cover Nine Time Blue, and we were working on an arrangement.  I do know that eventually we did record it (a couple of years later), but  it’s wherever our version of I Was Made for Loving You is.  I’m guessing it’s with Jimmy Hoffa…he’s a big fan.

Our flyer for today is for a show at Kinelo’s Cafe’ (formerly the Capitol Cafe’, later to be Beans and Leaves, and eventually The Lunch Studio.)  If I remember correctly, The Rugby Mothers canceled, and we were all sad.  We had wanted to play a show with them for forever, and things just kept not working out.  We finally got a show with them opening for Dead Eye Dick, but as discussed in an earlier post, I don’t remember a thing about that show.
