[-Ingus-] A brief and much long overdue admission.
While, yes, making fun of Poison was pretty cool in the mid-grunge world of 1993, and my lyrics were fairly clever (every knight has a horse?), I must admit to the world my shocking secret.
Every Rose Has It’s Thorn was the first song I ever learned to play on Guitar. I bought the sheet music at Herter Music. I learned it from the little chord graphs above the actual notes. I can play this song, because I have always been able to play this song, since I toiled over learning it on my plastic-body harmony electric.

There. My conscience is clear. My shame revealed to the world.
So this is our country (really? Is this country? I don’t even know what this is…) cover of Every Rose Has It’s Thorn. Recorded live to camcorder at Omnium Gatherum I.
We’re sorry, okay?
Today’s photo is from our third shirt – this one featured a picture from our first Flint Journal story. I don’t remember where the photo was shot – possibly Central Elementary in Davison. Wherever it was, I remember we goofed off the entire time the photographer was there. I think we were trying to make her laugh, but I’m not sure we really succeded.
The accompanying interview, though, I remember well, as it was conducted in the bathroom of the Capitol Cafe (now the Lunch Studio) by Chris Whitman for the “Word Up” teen section of the Journal. Chris’ handwriting was so poor, that the editor had to call Louis later and re-ask him most of the questions. The article ended with him saying “Support your local Burnt Toast”, which, I’m pretty sure was a mistranslation of “support local music and come see Burnt Toast”.
Anyway, it made for a cool shirt. I like the look on Ratza’s face.
